Published: 2019-01-29| Size:L M S|

1.Pepsinogen

Pepsinogen (PG) is the precursor of pepsin secreted by the stomach and involved in digestion. Generally, 1% of PG can enter the blood circulation through the gastric mucosa, which can be divided into two subtypes: PGI and PGII

Serum pepsinogen can accurately show the state and function of gastric mucosa

Pepsinogen I is secreted by the main cells and cervical mucus cells of the gastric fundus gland

Pepsinogen II can be produced in the pyloric and duodenal glands in addition to the secretion of the host cells and cervical mucus cells

2.Biological Function Of Pepsinogen

With the development of gastric disease, PGI in serum first increases, then decreases, and then increases, and then maintains a higher level. Thus, the abnormal PGI / PGII ratio of PGI and PGII will indicate the different course of gastric disease and become the primary screening index and monitoring index of treatment for gastric diseases

3.Main Clinical Significance

A. Early screening of gastric cancer

B. Screening of gastric ulcer, atrophic gastritis and HP infection

C. Evaluation of therapeutic effect of Helicobacter pylori (HP)

D. Criteria for recurrence and cure of peptic ulcer

E. Criteria of recurrence after gastrectomy

F. Dynamic examination of gastric mucosa function
